Hi, I am Daveed — Master Generator Technician
This is my tribute to my teacher
(22 May 1943 – 29 May 2026)
A True Pioneer in Electric Power Generation
Skip IntroOn 29 May, I received the heartbreaking news that my teacher and mentor, Karl Pat Brown, passed away. The world lost a brilliant mind, a master engineer, and a man whose influence reached far beyond the walls of any classroom or workshop.
Born in Jamaica, Karl was more than an instructor — he was a force in the world of electrical power generation. A Master Generator Engineer, he possessed a rare combination of deep technical mastery and the patience to teach it.
Engines, generators, AC/DC electrical systems, and control logic were not just machines to him — but living systems with stories to tell. And he taught us how to listen.
He taught discipline.
He taught integrity.
He taught pride in doing the right thing, even when no one was watching.
Karl didn’t just shape my skills — he shaped my future. He inspired me to return to university and pursue my path as an electrical engineer. Without his guidance, I would not be the person I am today.
Karl’s brilliance was unmatched. He was the mind behind one of the most challenging projects: synchronizing CAT 3412s with CUMMINS QST generators using Woodward EGCP2 and Power Command at Chub Key, Bahamas.
That project earned us an award from Woodward — a testament to his innovation, precision, and mastery. He didn’t just solve problems; he engineered solutions others thought impossible.
Through KPB Services and Emergency Power Systems in Florida, Karl trained countless technicians and engineers. Many built their careers on the foundation he provided.
Every generator that starts because of someone he trained is part of his legacy.
Every engineer who thinks more clearly because of his guidance carries his light forward.
From Jamaica to the Bahamas to the United States, Karl Pat Brown left a mark that will not fade. He taught us how to keep the lights on — literally and figuratively.
His work powered communities, but his wisdom powered people. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy endures.
Your knowledge, your kindness, your discipline, and your brilliance will continue to guide us. Your light will never fade.
My deepest condolences to his family — Shani, Leighton, Robbie — his colleagues, and everyone whose life he shaped.
Rest in power, Mr. Brown.
